My first step was to message my PCP to tell them I was interested in sema for weight loss. Before I went in for an appointment they wanted me to contact my medical insurance to see if it was covered. It was not. Of course it wasn't.
After a few recommendations from friends, I made an appointment with one of the local wellness centers. I had a pre-consult on the phone. I explained about my issues and my hopes to alleviate the pain and swelling in my joints so I could be active again.
Yes, I was definitely a different type of case. She wanted to explain my condition to the medical staff to see if they would consider taking me before I went in and paid for a consultation. After a few days of not hearing anything back, I figured it was a no-go. But then I finally got the call! Yes, they would meet with me and go over my medical history to see if I was a good candidate.
well prepared
My RN went over my entire medical history with a fine toothed comb jotting everything down. I had with me a copy of my latest blood work results. She asked me if my doctor had told me that I was pre-diabetic. No, they did not. Shocker. I was. There were some other things that were off with my bloodwork. I knew about them. Even googled them myself but my PCP didn't seem concerned I supposed because they never said anything about my cholesterol and blood cell count.
We went over my joint issues extensively. What helped it in the past, what exercises had I been doing, how did keto work for me, how was my diet now, how is my mental health. It was 2 hours of history research and in those 2 hours I because very comfortable with her. She was direct. She took her time and explained everything to me. I felt she was actually interested in my health and I wasn't just another person coming in trying to jump on the sema wagon. I was more than willing to do the work. I just needed the guidance. She set me up for a consultation with a nutritionist/trainer and took me on as a client and recieved my first .25 (10 units) injection.
